A cold wallet stores your private keys on a device that never connects to the internet. Because the keys are generated and held offline, remote attackers, malware, and phishing sites have no way to reach them.
folio never plugs into your computer for signing. You scan an unsigned transaction as a QR code, approve it on the device, and scan the signed result back. The private key never leaves the device and no cable ever carries it.
Your funds live on the blockchain, not the device. If folio is lost or damaged, you restore your wallet on a new device using your recovery phrase or Shamir shards. No funds are tied to the hardware itself.
